VS Code Extension Six months after initial release, the ServiceNow Extensions for Visual Studio Code has reached version 1.4. This milestone is significant in that several incremental changes have added up an improved experience. I will include the release notes below and highlight several of the improvements directly. Continue to provide feedback on the idea portal and the dedicated community. Read the FAQ. Not everything I point out will be specifically new to 1.
Things are different 2020 has made many things different. A big part of the developer program’s focus every year is helping ensure high-quality content is available for developers at the Knowledge conference. We create our talks and workshops and review others in service to that effort. Since the digital experience was so different this year, we thought each of us would share a little bit about how it was unusual.

Email Can Be Better There is nothing that bugs me more on the Now Platform than seeing outbound emails without any personalization (logo/color/font updates). I have a love-hate relationship with email. Early in my ServiceNow career, as the sole administrator at a customer (on the Calgary release), some of my first high-visibility updates were based on updates made to the inbound and outbound emails.
Source Control and CI/CD Resources The Orlando release brought some major enhancements to ServiceNow’s source control integration and added some CI/CD capabilities in the form of automated testing and deployment APIs and IntegrationHub spokes. We’ve covered most of that on the blog, but recently there has been a lot more content published due to K20 and other factors. This article will detail that content.
Developer Site Training Training on the ServiceNow Developer Site has used source control with GitHub for years to provide modular learning content.
